Sofa loving…

Published by under 3-4 yrs, photo log

image

The daddy bought a new sofa for the girl, so that she doesn’t need to sit on the floor to put on her shoes again.  (How come I don’t get a new wardrobe so I don’t have to complain abt no clothes to wear again? *hmph*)

No wonder she’s all lovey-dovey and daddy’s girl for the rest of the day. :)

P/s… are kids born with the ability to just pose like that??? If not, I’d really like to find out who’s been teaching my girl to be such a poser… >(

How the daughter would insist on being carried when the daddy refuses to.

Happy Birthday, Popo!

Published by under 3-4 yrs, activities, photo log

It’s the little one’s grandma’s birthday today…  And the little one said she wanted to buy a present for her popo. :)

(Actually the story is she has been going on and on promising her popo that she’ll buy presents for her, but never once did she fulfil her promise.  Even once when we were out shopping, I asked if she wants to buy anything, she thought about it for a while and replied, “eh, nevermind.”)

So it being the grandma’s birthday, we asked her if she would like to buy a birthday present for her.  With “Yes” being the answer, we made it into a “task” with specific steps to make sure she doesn’t give up halfway – Think Special Agent Oso.   :P

Step 1:  Empty out your piggy bank and put money into your wallet.

Step 2:  Choose a present within your budget.

Step 3: Pay for it.

Step 4: Bring it home and wrap it up.

And finally, Step 5: Give it to the birthday grandma and celebrate with the whole family!

Happy Birthday Popo!

Singapore Zoo’s Pandas!

Published by under 3-4 yrs, outings, photo log

You know you are a lucky girl when you tell your parents you want to go to the zoo… and that very weekend, that’s exactly where you’re headed!

Since I started working, I have missed all the MAD (Mommy And Daughter) impromptu outings. So when the girl gives an idea on where to go, we’re more than happy to accommodate (as long as it’s not some unachievable fantasy). :)

And imagine the nice surprise when we realised the panda are available for viewing!!!

This was an additional $5 top up for adults and $3 top up for children for you to enter to view the pandas and a section of the upcoming River Safari.  OF COURSE we paid for it cos we’ve pretty much seen everything in the Singapore Zoo and since we’re already here, might as well spend more money to experience something new, right? :)

Kai Kai was sleeping when we visited… and Jia Jia (supposedly the shy one) was prancing around the whole time!

Only about 150 visiters were allowed in to the Panda’s enclosure every 20 mins, and you were told to keep the volume down, and no flash photography.  Truly VIP treatment….

And of course, there wasn’t just the two pandas… There are exhibits showing you what they do… what they eat… how they behave etc… And oh, there’s a red panda too!  (Poor thing, kindof overshadowed by the cousins)

And after our 20 mins was up, we were chased invited out so other visitors can have their turn at panda viewing.  And here’s when we saw the Panda Pau!  SO CUTE!

So of course we had to try it… Panda Pau in the Panda Cafe with Panda and Bamboo furniture!!!

And we end our Panda adventure as we proceed to the other parts of the zoo, with a photo by the Panda statues! :P

Other photos to sum up the rest of our zoo trip:

The huge aquarium of GIANTIC FISHES at the upcoming River Safari (you get to see this enroute to the Panda Enclosure)

And another first… a zoo tram ride (cos the girl kept bugging us and we were tired of walking around too :P )

The girl making friends and playing make-believe with a boy on the jungle safari truck at Outback Australia.

My, what big feet you have!!!

And the final shot at the zoo’s souvenir shop… White Tiger Claws!!!

I kindof regret not buying them back cos it’s really so cute!!!  Look how the girl enjoyed it too? :P

The City @ Liang Court

Published by under 3-4 yrs,photo log,playground

Headed down to “The City” a few weekends ago with friends and their kids… It’s really a place to “role-play” which is quite fun for 3 year olds like our kids.

Everything is kid-sized for them all!

“Hrms, should I get that pack of Pringles potato chips?”

I’m actually quite happy she ended up buying mainly fruits and vegetables rather than the biscuits and potato chips off the shelves. :P

My princess recently picked up this “Super Hero” phase from her schoolmates…

“And I can FLY!!!!”

But she’s still a princess wannabe.  :)  Look how happy she is being able to wear and be Cinderella for a day. :)

One station is the post office, where my girl went through the process of writing a letter… folding it and putting it into an envelope… pasting the stamps… and dropping it into the mailbox…

… AND THEN picking it up and becoming the mail-lady delivering the letters to her friends!

The classroom (which obviously didn’t hold much of her attention since she kindof faces it everyday :P )

And the hair salon where she tried on wigs pretending to be Alice in Wonderland. :P

Mommy attempted to teach her how to tie barbie doll’s hair… and of course failed.  She is really not a barbie doll person.

Though when I asked her to help the baby wear diapers, she was quite intrigued. :P

And bottle feeding too!

(this is in no way giving me any idea that having another kid is going to be easier)

And my favourite look on her… the Policewoman!

Definitely traffic stopping. :)

VERDICT:  I wasn’t very excited actually, though I think the girl really enjoyed herself.  At 3+ years old, she *kindof* can pretend-play with her friends, though it still ends up with the parents being the playmate cos we’re the only ones who would listen to their instructions without wanting to do something else instead.  I probably won’t go back again until maybe she’s a bit older and there’s a close friend she can really pretend play with so the adults can relax. :P  Till then!

Chinese New Year 2013

Published by under 3-4 yrs, photo log

(quick photo log of CNY 2013)

Happy New Year!

It was such a busy first day of the lunar new year that the mommy forgot to take tons of photos!!!  So thanks to the sister who took out her camera and took tons of photos of which I managed to steal a few! :P

The girls of the family! :) From left, my cousin, myself, my girl, my niece and my sis!

And yap…. cos I forgot the camera and didn’t manage to take a lot of photos, the photo log totally jumped to Day 2 when we went to the sister’s house to see the lion dance troupe!

But of course touching the lion’s head brings good luck! :P

The kids there to enjoy the show! :)

After which, we brought the girl to the great-grandma’s house where she received her first mahjong lesson. :P  Until we dragged her out trying to get some photos of her Day 2 CNY attire…

How a typical photo-shoot with my daughter goes:

(1) Try to get her favourite aunt(s) to prep her by having practice shots…

(2) … before letting her do it on her own…

(3) … before trying to be ambitious in getting a family portrait…

(4) … that somehow just doesn’t go our way…

(5) … totally not following our expectations…

(6) … it takes practice to keep our smiles plastered on our faces…

(7) … but usually we just give up and conclude that we’ll never have  decent family portrait. :(

I should really consider letting her hold a packet of gummy bear sweets and a soft drink can the next time we attempt a family portrait.

That night, the father and daughter does their own lion dance number on the bed before bedtime. *sigh*

CNY Day 3 attire. :)

Leaving the house, we heard the lion dance troupe 3 blocks away, and ran to watch what’s left of it.  And this dance troupe has 10 lions altogether!!!

Spent the day just the three of us together… and by this time, my girl is super familiar with…

… The God of Fortune!

And the weekend after CNY, we saw ANOTHER lion dance troupe at the market.  This one was giving out toy snakes (for the snake year!)

We hung around hoping to receive the blessing. :P

And this was how the girl watched the whole lion dance performance…  on her royal throne. :)

And we were lucky enough to walk away with one!!!

… Before the God of Fortune stole it! :P

But of course he returned it to the little girl who good-heartedly posed nicely with her prize and the God of Fortune himself!

(And here I am, still without a decent family portrait.  *sigh*)
