She: Mommy, why cannot throw things on the floor?

Me: Can we throw things on the floor?

She: No.

Me: Why not?

She: Because if you throw things on the floor, then you don’t have anything already!

*Mommy glares at her…*

*Girl smiles and sends multiple flying kisses in mommy’s way*

Survival instincts are high in this one… Either that or the daddy has been giving her private tuition…

The girl’s teacher was trying to contact me frantically cos the little one injured herself in school. She called me… whatsapp me the photos… and contacted the husband.  After many other channels of attempts, the husband finally got hold of me through kay.  And this is when I finally am so thankful that I have such a strong support nearby network.  远亲不如近邻. 

Turns out the girl got her foot caught under the door and the toe nail got torn apart.

When I picked her up, the teacher looked worse than my girl. She looked pale and miserable and at the brink of tears. The teacher, I mean.

My girl, on the other hand, was sitting normally by herself at the side, looking very bored and normal. When she saw me, she stood up excitedly, as if forgetting her injury.

And then the story unfolded. The teacher opened the door not knowing the girl was behind.  And naturally the girl started bawling.  And naturally the teacher tried to calm and comfort her saying, “Don’t cry don’t cry, you’ll be okay”. And apparently, very unnaturally to all at the childcare centre, my daughter stopped crying.

They brought her to wash up in the toilet, and my girl said in a very stoic face, “Teacher, it’s very painful…” And that’s when the teacher got very worried that my daughter was in a state of shock… cos how could a 3 year old stop crying on command and withstand all that pain and trauma?

But that’s my brave brave girl with a very high pain threshold.  so proud of her…

So we brought her to the doc, got some cream, brought her home… all the while us being more anxious than her that she does not injure her toe anymore.  And that’s when we decided to bandage it up to keep her off her feet….

A bit overdo I’d admit… but I don’t want to risk the little one aggravating it anymore. I swear my heart hurts more than her toe…

While the girl has always been running and jumping around like a monkey all the time, the daddy said she only has speed but no stamina.  So this weekend we decided to start her training for the 800m run!

Headed down to NUS running track and started with some warm up exercises.

And they kicked off!  The daddy said they’ll only do one round (400m) today.  He had to tell her to run slowly in case she burns off all her energy too early in the race…

And they return after the first round!  …… Not without incident though cos near the end of the round, the princess had a dramatic fall! 

But well trained through all past accidents and incidents, she picked herself up to complete the race! *beams with pride*

(that’s of course after some TLCs from the daddy and then grabbing his hand to make sure she doesn’t fall again. :p )

Back to the grandstand where mommy waited (well, someone had to stay back to watch the valuables right???), the two runners drowned themselves with mouthfuls of water on this hot hot day… before my girl suddenly said, “Papa, let’s do it again!”

SURPRISED!  According to the daddy, she was actually quite tired out – hence the earlier fall.  But since she asked for it, we happily obliged!

So off they went again…

… and the final touch that only a princess will remember – applying your “lipstick”!  (she dug my whole bag in search of my lipbalm!)  Cos you need to look good no matter how sweaty you may be.  :p

The daddy bought a new sofa for the girl, so that she doesn’t need to sit on the floor to put on her shoes again.  (How come I don’t get a new wardrobe so I don’t have to complain abt no clothes to wear again? *hmph*)

No wonder she’s all lovey-dovey and daddy’s girl for the rest of the day.

P/s… are kids born with the ability to just pose like that??? If not, I’d really like to find out who’s been teaching my girl to be such a poser… >(

How the daughter would insist on being carried when the daddy refuses to.

Who said 3 year olds can’t play Candy Crush? :p

(Actually the story is she has been going on and on promising her popo that she’ll buy presents for her, but never once did she fulfil her promise.  Even once when we were out shopping, I asked if she wants to buy anything, she thought about it for a while and replied, “eh, nevermind.”)

So it being the grandma’s birthday, we asked her if she would like to buy a birthday present for her.  With “Yes” being the answer, we made it into a “task” with specific steps to make sure she doesn’t give up halfway – Think Special Agent Oso.   :P

Step 1:  Empty out your piggy bank and put money into your wallet.

Step 2:  Choose a present within your budget.

 
Step 3: Pay for it.  

 Step 4: Bring it home and wrap it up. 

 
And finally, Step 5: Give it to the birthday grandma and celebrate with the whole family!

Happy Birthday Popo!

Since I started working, I have missed all the MAD (Mommy And Daughter) impromptu outings. So when the girl gives an idea on where to go, we’re more than happy to accommodate (as long as it’s not some unachievable fantasy).

And imagine the nice surprise when we realised the panda are available for viewing!!!

This was an additional $5 top up for adults and $3 top up for children for you to enter to view the pandas and a section of the upcoming River Safari.  OF COURSE we paid for it cos we’ve pretty much seen everything in the Singapore Zoo and since we’re already here, might as well spend more money to experience something new, right?

Kai Kai was sleeping when we visited… and Jia Jia (supposedly the shy one) was prancing around the whole time!

Only about 150 visiters were allowed in to the Panda’s enclosure every 20 mins, and you were told to keep the volume down, and no flash photography.  Truly VIP treatment….

And of course, there wasn’t just the two pandas… There are exhibits showing you what they do… what they eat… how they behave etc… And oh, there’s a red panda too!  (Poor thing, kindof overshadowed by the cousins)

And after our 20 mins was up, we were chased invited out so other visitors can have their turn at panda viewing.  And here’s when we saw the Panda Pau!  SO CUTE!

So of course we had to try it… Panda Pau in the Panda Cafe with Panda and Bamboo furniture!!!

And we end our Panda adventure as we proceed to the other parts of the zoo, with a photo by the Panda statues!
