christmas baking
After fldding around with play-doh so much, the ambitious mommy wondered if we could do some baking to give friends and family as christmas gifts… 
But of course, the main aim was really to let the girl play around with the dough, cut the figures out and watch them turn miraculously into cookies!
Headed to my mom’s where there’s a huge oven and tons of baking equipment. What’s best? By the time I reached there with the girl, the dough was mixed and set, the oven was pre-heated and all that’s left was for the girl to get the cookies out!
First she rolled the dough into a thin sheet…
Then we gave her the whole set of cookie cutters to choose what she wanted to make… (that’s a hedgehog!) And i helped her transfer the cookie shape onto the cookie tray cos otherwise she’d be tearing the hedgehog apart…
And just after perhaps 5 minutes of decent roll-cut-transfer, the distracted one started using her fingers to poke the dough…
.. pinch them out into little balls…
… and line them all up in a roll!
So the mommy and grandma decided we couldn’t depend on her to get all these done… So while the girl was playing around, the grandma started using the remainder of the dough to make piglet cookies (猪仔饼) as seen at the bottom of the picture…
… And the mommy used the remaining table top space to complete the whole cookie tray of animal cookies…
This was what we ended up with…
And the final result after baking!
Sad to say… We probably won’t have the patience to go through this again… (you didn’t see the amount of flour strewn all over the high-chair and across the floor). So no christmas cookies as presents this year. Better luck next year.
In the meantime, the girl can share her creations with her daddy (cos no one else really like piglet cookies that much ). If you want one, let us know quick before she finishes them all!
