shanghai day 4
12th April
another beautiful day… the mommy decided to just start the day in the garden outside our hotel. it’s a HUGE grass patch with fallen sakura petals scattered all around.
the little darling would pick up petals off the floor and give them to me… which is really quite sweet except i won’t know what to do with them (so i let them fall back to the ground – 落叶归根).
as she enjoys the vast space to run around in, the pretty colours of all flowers in bloom, and the nice cool weather that she so misses from california, the mommy snapped photo after photo… what a nice feeling it is to just spend a nice relaxing day with the girl outdoors. somehow i never get this urge back in SG… i blame it on the hot humid weather.
so after lunch at my fav mall, the girl got to go to her favourite playground again. it was to be a relaxing day for the mommy cos the daddy is in conference the WHOLE DAY with even a dinner banquet. so to make sure i have the energy to last the whole day AND night, i would cater it to my kind of pace.
she really loves these… why doesn’t singapore have a kid’s playground with these little merry-go-round for them to climb on and off themselves? those at the playgrounds at HDB void decks are too high and meant for 5 years and above… 2 year old kids also need their space!
after a nap back in the hotel, i brought the girl to the insect museum located just beside the hotel. (did i mention i love my hotel already?
) and of course she loves it. she likes all creepy crawlies (much to the disgust of the mommy). if she sees a cockroach, she’ll point at it, shout “COCKROACH!” and laugh out loud… oh man… yucks. but maybe when she gets older, she can help her mommy chase cockroaches away.
honestly, i dunno how snakes, monkeys, turtles, RABBITS and GOATS fall under the insect category cos they were there in the museum too?!? doesn’t matter, my girl love them tons and had a great time with them!
in fact, i felt that she might even prefer this museum over to the aquarium! but too bad she woke up too late from her nap and we only had an hour in the insect museum. so when they were closing for the day and turning off the lights, she got really upset and cried out loud (again…). in the end all the museum attendants stood by the door and waited for her to leave… it was almost like our own guard of honour watching us down the aisle… *so embarrassing*
but when we finally walked out from the museum, we saw more sakura flowers and the little grouchy and teary one cheered up again.
sometimes it might not be THAT bad a thing to have a girl with quick-changing emotions. she may get angry easily… but SOMETIMES, she does recover quite fast too.
of course other times she can go on and on crying for an hour and the mommy will just give in (cos that’s when her patience and energy runs out…)
since i’m on duty all the way till the daddy finishes his banquet, i brought her back to the hotel room for dinner and then a walk to the indoor swimming pool. it’s nice! but they said limited to guests 3 years and above… i lied. i said my girl is past 2 years and we have our own swimming float, so can we go in? the guy went to check with the in-house swimming coach and said okay!
great! just when i’m about to celebrate by bringing the daughter down to change, they said we all had to wear swimming caps… even my girl! siao lah… i don’t wear swimming caps… and i’ll NEVER get my girl to wear a swimming cap too, even if i had one… so plans failed. she can only swim in the bath-tub in our hotel room. but that doesn’t stop the little one from trying to break open the glass barrier to try to go in to the pool – check out that photo! she can be really determined when she wants something!
