Singapore Flyer

Published by at 12:44 am under 2-3 yrs, outings, photo log

Each time we drive down the expressway towards the east, the girl always looks out for the giant ferris wheel, aka Singapore Flyer. EVERY SINGLE TIME.  And when she finds it, she’ll get all excited – “LOOK MAMA! THE FERRIS WHEEL! It’s so big! And it’s shaped like an oval/circle! (depending what angle we look at it from)” So we made a mental note to bring her up one day…

And lucky us recently got a corporate pass for 2 adults to the Singapore Flyer! *HURRAY* Saved up on the entrance fee which costs about $29.50 per adult (i think)! And with the girl not 3 year old yet, she got to go in for free!

Went there almost 7pm, thinking we could go up the Flyer and try to catch the sunset… Alas, it being the Sunday before a public holiday, the queue was snaking long and by the time we reached the capsule, the sun has long set. :(

But thankfully there is a whole setup called “Journey of Dreams” which kept us and the little one entertained as we queued up for our turn. An attraction by itself, where you can appreciate the Singapore Story and understand more about the Singapore Flyer. Here, the girl was playing around at the “Fragment of Dreams” where she could shine a torch onto a portrait of olden Singapore to reveal informative sneak-peeks into the modern urban city Singapore is today.

And then the “Reservoir of Dreams” which has a huge orb with circular artefacts from the past and present to represent the Flyer’s spherical shape, and an inflated PufferSphere which projects the the Singapore Story as well as that of the Singapore Flyer from internally…

… As well as the “Numeric” which presents some facts and figures of the Singapore Flyer…

But of course, the highlight was when we entered the air-conditioned capsule, and the girl went goo-goo-ga-ga as we rose to great heights…

She was really quite fascinated looking out and down from the Singapore Flyer capsule…

The daddy trying to orientate her to our surroundings…

… and then about 10 minutes into the ride, she was bored. :( So she grabbed my camera and started taking pictures of everything INSIDE the capsule… Honestly, she ended up more interested in the oceanic designs on the floor of the capsules, than what was outside… (Thank goodness I didn’t have to pay for her entrance tickets).

But still, the little one was so very happy to be finally up the Singapore Flyer that she gamely posed with her daddy when asked…

And even when taking a family shot… :)

And to prove just how thrilled and excited she was, she started making monkey faces throughout the rest of the ride…  (at least someone’s having fun)… :)

After we disembarked after the 30 minutes ride, the girl went on and on about having sat on the ferris wheel… and how she had *SO MUCH FUN!*… etc..

And then we went for dinner at the food court / hawker center on the first floor and had a SUPERB dinner. *YUM YUM*

T’was a great night’s out. :) And here are some of the photos we took on the trip. :)

The newly opened Garden By The Bay (taken with my new Samsung S3)… which my husband said was a “giant terrarium”. :P You can *almost* see the SuperTrees there on the right…

The go-karting circuit bird’s eye view, which in September will become our F1 circuit. Superb view! No wonder Singapore Flyer tickets sky-rocket during the F1 season…

And the night-scene of our city from the top of the Singapore Flyer.

And one final parting shot as we leave the Singapore Flyer. :)
